Last night’s blood moon as viewed along the American Wild and Scenic River in California, one of the few urban rivers in the U.S. to have a wild and scenic designation. The river flows from the Sierra crest to downtown Sacramento. The BLM manages segments of the North and South forks of the river which are popular for whitewater boating and gold panning. BLM photo.
Happy National Libraries Week! Did you know that David S. Ferriero, who is the head of the National Archives, is actually a librarian?
But before he became the tenth Archivist of the United States, “Dave Ferriero” was a boy who wrote to President Eisenhower and requested an autographed photograph. The letter was saved in the holdings of Eisenhower Presidential Library!
Lovely Water by Cian McKenna is a series of images and videos
McKenna on his project:
A bit of straight-forward and altogether meaningless eye candy you might say, or a visual exploration of a place I love. Lovely Water is an ongoing project that is added to following every trip down to the sea armed with a camera and a strong desire to go for a swim.
These images and videos are taken in a sheltered cove known deceptively as ‘the 40ft’ in Sandycove, Dublin. It has been frequented by all manner of nudey and not nudey bathers since the days of Joyce (RIP) and is altogether wonderful year round.
Group of United States army nurses in training somewhere in Wales, May 23, 1944, practice Jiu Jitsu on each other, just in case they meet up with an enemy soldier in the front lines. This is one phase of the complete course of training for the girls before being assigned to war areas. They are trained at a hospital training area. (AP Photo)
